Julie A. Welch (Runtz), CPA, PFS, CFP®, is a managing partner and Director of Taxation with Meara Welch Browne, P.C. in Leawood, KS. Ms. Welch earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from William Jewell College and her Master of Science in Accounting with a Taxation Focus from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She received the AICPA Sid Kess Award for Excellence in Continuing Education in 2015 and the UMKC Alumni Achievement Award for 1999. She served on the AICPA’s planning committee for the “Tax Planning Strategies for the High-Income Individual” conference, where she is also a frequent speaker. She recently served on the AICPA’s Personal Financial Planning Executive Committee and currently serves on the Kansas City Estate Planning Symposium Committee. She has been a co-columnist for the Journal of Financial Planning and a frequent columnist for CPA Magazine. She co-authored and published 101 Tax Saving Ideas, soon to be in its Eleventh Edition.
Ms. Welch has presented tax planning seminars to various groups. She has appeared on radio and television and has been quoted in numerous publications on many tax issues. Ms. Welch is a member of several professional organizations including the AICPA, MSCPA, and FPA.
