About Diane

Diane is founder and Managing Partner of Competitive Resources, a Kansas City based sales coaching company since 1989. Competitive Resources designs customized sales training sessions for a wide range of clients nationwide. Her background is in sales, sales management and marketing, with the primary focus on business to business sales. Her passion is helping sales professionals find their success.
Diane started her career as a rookie at WDAF Radio, quickly rose to top biller before moving to WDAF Television where she also earned top biller status. After seven years in direct sales, Diane was recruited to manage sales for a startup radio station, KCFX, which quickly became one of the top radio stations in the market and was the first FM station to broadcast NFL games.

In 1989, Diane founded Competitive Resources while continuing to manage national sales for Hoker Broadcasting and The Journal Company on a contract basis and was named manager of the year for both radio groups.

Although her background is in media and advertising, Diane’s client list is varied from international companies such as Black and Veatch to a local automotive dealer. The sales skillset she coaches can be applied across any industry.

In addition to sales coaching, Diane has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Kansas for over twenty years in the William Allen White School of Journalism, teaching sales, presentation skills and capstone courses. She has also taught in the MBA program at KU.

Diane received her MBA from Rockhurst University and undergraduate degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia in both Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. She lives in Kansas City with her husband Rob.
From 2014-2016, Diane also chaired KC’s largest women’s health event, Living in Vitality, with over 1,000 women attending the event each year and she continues to be active in civic and community causes. When not coaching sales professionals, you can find her on a soccer field, tennis court or golf course!
