During this presentation, the following topics will be covered:

Data Breaches and Lost Information – What’s Your Risk?

Threats to an organization’s security can be external and internal. What is the true cost of a lost laptop? What information is available on your employee’s smart phone? Is your electronic and physical data safe? We will discuss the most common types of external threats facing organizations today; and we will discuss what policies and procedures should be in place to mitigate this risk.

Exploring the Hidden Impacts of Fraud and the Ethics of Fraud Investigation

When fraud happens to an organization and its people, there is more than just a loss of money. The impacts are far reaching, from emotional impacts to financial ones. Responding to fraud victims and assisting them in navigating through a fraud investigation is just as important as closing your case. During this course, we will discuss specific fraud investigations conducted by Ms. Couch, lessons learned, and the ethical and legal considerations to be considered during a fraud examination engagement.

Interviewing Basics for Auditors

Your professional standards require you to consider the risk of fraud in an organization and to rely on interviews of management and staff to satisfy this requirement. In this course we will talk about the fact that just 4% of all frauds are discovered by external auditors, examine the reasons why those statistics are so low,and incorporate ways to bring more success to the informational interviews you conduct as an auditor. In this presentation you will learn what an “interview” is, how to overcome what Tiffany calls “The Scarlet Letter ‘A’ (A is for Auditor!), and learn the basics of verbal and nonverbal cues, structuring questions, and understanding the dynamics of setting up an appropriate interview setting.
