"The Annual Student Leadership Conference is where students go out of their comfort zone in accounting classes and meet professionals from multi-national companies. Student chapter affiliates of the IMA Kansas City Chapter attended the recent Student Leadership Conference held in Houston, TX. UMKC, Washburn and Kansas State University students learned about the diverse accounting profession from industry leaders, as well as attending several networking and recruiting activities. The three day event ended with a captivating presentation on important life lessons from Andy Fastow for students starting their careers. While in Houston for the #SLC17, UMKC student chapter representatives volunteered for Huricane Harvey, relief by helping home owners prepare properties for contractor rebuilds.
